Historical Society

The Marilla Historical Society is a non-profit organization devoted to the collection and preservation of artifacts relating to the history of the Town of Marilla. The Society maintains a Historical Museum which is located in the front of the Marilla Community Center. It also maintains the Cal Doucette Civil War Library, the Roloff House at 1739 West Avenue and the Marilla Log Cabin at the same location. The Marilla Historical Society is also a proud sponsor of the Civil War Days Encampment at the Marilla Town Park, held since 2004.

Anyone interested in the history of Marilla and related subjects should visit our Museum. It contains a large and diversified collection of artifacts including agricultural implements, cheese making items, a taxidermy collection, Civil War materials, old books, fire memorabilia, war memorabilia, presidential memorabilia, general store items (from the 19th and early 20th centuries), blacksmithing tools, horse-drawn equipment, the Dr. Lougee Collection, Native American artifacts, and more.

If you have any questions concerning the history of the Town of Marilla or its hamlets: Williston, Porterville, Puckerville, or Iron Bridge, please contact Hubert Kutter, Town Historian. Inquiries concerning the genealogy of former residents of Marilla are always welcome.

General Membership Meetings are held in the Community Center at 7pm, on the 4th Monday of the Month. New members are always welcome. Membership dues are $10.00 per year ($7.00 per year for seniors 65 and over). Trustees Meetings are held as needed (as called upon by the President).

Museum Hours
The museum is open on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm to 4pm (except in July, August, and December). The museum is also frequently open during special town celebrations such as parades and “Christmas in Marilla.”
