Town Supervisor’s Office

The Town Supervisor is elected for a two-year term and must be a resident when elected and during the term of office. He or she performs official duties solely in the public interest. As Marilla’s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Town Treasurer—the Town Supervisor presides as Chairman at all meetings of the Town Board and keeps a complete and accurate record of all money received and spent. These accounts, kept in the Town Hall, are public record and may be inspected in the Supervisor’s presence.

The Town Supervisor’s Office is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the town, including such functions as accounting, budgeting, payroll, and personnel. The Supervisor also prepares the Town Budget, which must be completed by September 30th. The Town Board must then have a public hearing on the proposed budget before the Thursday following the general election. The budget must be adopted before November 20th. In addition, the Town Supervisor is responsible for filing the Comprehensive Annual Report, which is audited and then reviewed by the Government Finance Officers Association.
